On this day in 2008, Venus Williams clinched her fifth Wimbledon title by defeating her sister Serena with a score of 7-5, 6-4. At 28 years old, Venus joined an elite group of players who have won the prestigious trophy five times or more in the modern era. Serena, who had bested Venus in the 2002 and 2003 Wimbledon finals, initially took a 4-2 lead in the first set.
