Coming off the bench, he played a crucial role in securing a dramatic victory for United in their Premier League opener against Fulham. Despite not featuring in any of United's pre-season matches, the Dutch international scored the match-winning goal in the 87th minute, converting a cross from fellow substitute Alejandro Garnacho, sending the Old Trafford crowd into a frenzy.
